CYTJ45 jumbo drilling rig

CYTJ45 jumbo drilling rig is a type of large, specialized piece of mining and tunneling equipment designed to drill holes in rock for blasting, bolting, or other excavation purposes. It’s commonly used in underground mining, tunneling, and civil engineering projects where precise, high-volume drilling is required. Mounted on a chassis (rubber tires, crawler tracks, or rail). Equipped with one or more hydraulic drilling booms that can position and operate rock drills.

• High drilling speed and productivity.

• Precise hole placement for optimal blasting results.

• Can handle various tunnel sizes and rock conditions.

• Modern models have reduced noise, dust, and vibration for better operator safety.

Main Components

Carrier/Chassis – The mobile base that supports all components; can be diesel, electric, or hybrid powered.

Booms – Articulated arms that hold and maneuver the drills. Jumbos may have 1, 2, or 3 booms depending on tunnel size and productivity needs.

Rock Drills – Pneumatic or hydraulic drills mounted at the boom’s end.

Control System – Manual, semi-automatic, or fully computerized drilling control for precision hole placement.

Operator Cabin – Provides a safe, comfortable space for the operator with good visibility and controls.

Applications

Underground mining – Ore development headings, crosscuts, and production drilling.

Tunneling projects – Road, rail, or water tunnels.

Hydropower construction – Underground caverns and penstock tunnels.

Civil infrastructure – Metro systems, underground parking, sewer systems.

Performance Parameters

How It Works

Positioning – The jumbo moves into place in the tunnel or heading.

Boom Setup – Operator adjusts the boom(s) and drill(s) according to the blast pattern or bolt placement plan.

Drilling – The rock drill penetrates the rock to the required depth, flushing cuttings with water or air.

Blasting or Bolting – After drilling, holes can be loaded with explosives for blasting, or bolts for ground support.

Types of Jumbo Drilling Rigs

Single-boom jumbo – For small tunnels or confined spaces.

Double-boom jumbo – Balanced productivity for medium-sized headings.

Triple-boom jumbo – High-capacity drilling for large tunnels and heavy-duty mining.
